Welcome to my first blog — a chronicle of transformation, resilience, and the extraordinary companionship that has illuminated my path. This is the story of how losing my sight opened my eyes to a world of courage, patience, and unexpected joy.
Before blindness became a part of my journey, I owned and operated a charming Pre-Kindergarten called Ring Around the Countryside. It stood proudly on an acre of farmland, beside my family home — a place where laughter and learning blossomed every day. Life was steady, full of purpose and color. Then, suddenly and without warning, everything changed.
Becoming blind as an adult was not merely a challenge — it was a profound turning point. There were seasons of illness, confusion, and fear; days when the world felt uncertain and unkind. Yet within that darkness, I found a quiet strength. I learned to pause, to reflect, and to approach each obstacle not with defeat, but with determination. I began to understand that blindness did not take away my ability to dream — it simply reshaped the way I would pursue those dreams.
Through the guidance of my loyal and intelligent guide dogs, I discovered new layers of independence and joy. Together, we have navigated crowded streets, unfamiliar cities, and the ever-changing rhythms of daily life. Their trust in me — and mine in them — has taught me what true partnership means.
In losing my sight, I gained a vision far greater than sight itself: the ability to live with gratitude, purpose, and compassion. My journey has allowed me to help others — both blind and sighted — find confidence, freedom, and happiness in every circumstance, whether in light or in darkness.
I invite you to walk beside me through these stories — moments of challenge and triumph, of laughter and love. Let us explore the beauty of life with a guide dog by your side, and discover together that even in the dark, there is always light to be found.
